Caño Martín Peña

This EPA design assistance was intended to complement the existing efforts of ENLACE Caño Martín Peña Restoration Project, an innovative environmental justice and social transformation initiative to restore an estuary channel in the heart of San Juan, Puerto Rico. Other initiatives includes: promoting an inclusive, livable, and resilient city through grassroots participation and strong partnerships with allies from the public and private sectors. ENLACE’s key partners in this endeavor are the G-8 (leadership representing the eight communities), Fideicomiso de la Tierra (community land trust) and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (responsible for the dredging of the channel).
