Wilson Street Cycleway

SMM was engaged by the City of Sydney to provide specialist consultancy services for the development of a regional bicycle route between Redfern and MacDonaldtown train stations.

The project involves a new separated cycleway along Wilson and Burren Streets, and minor upgrades to Little Eveleigh Street. It aims to deliver a range of improvements to pedestrian amenity and safety through a series of integrated streetscape and footpath improvements. The cycleway will provide a more liveable, green pedestrian corridor as well as a key connection between popular destinations and existing transport nodes such as Erskineville, Macdonaldtown and Redfern Stations, and the bus route along King Street.

The final design concept balances the requirement for improved cycle safety and streetscape amenity, with minimising parking loss and impacts on significant trees.
