Windsor Bridge Replacement

Spackman Mossop Michaels have been commissioned by TfNSW as the urban design and landscape consultants for a replacement bridge over the Hawkesbury River at Windsor.

The bridge crossing at Windsor is the oldest existing structure that crosses over the Hawkesbury River, and provides one of only two river crossings for the local population and visitors to the local area. The existing bridge is approaching the end of its economic life and is to be replaced with a new structure about 35 meters downstream from the existing crossing.

The challenge for this project was to achieve a coordinated outcome to integrate the replacement bridge and its approach roads, delivering the best possible enhancements for Windsor and particularly Thompson Square, one of the most historically important public spaces in Australia.
