The previous geometry of the Lodge Road closure did not provide sufficient access and was not consistent with community visions for walking and cycling, or with current best practices and guidelines. This caused considerable difficulty for bike riders maneuvering through the space.
The project involved meaningful engagement with the community and local stakeholders for footpath and cycleway improvements. The concepts produced at the workshop were used as a basis for the development of walking and cycling amenity. This reduced the potential conflict between different user groups and made significant contributions to the quality of landscaping and public space.
