Harmony Park

Public Spaces

City of Sydney
Sydney, NSW

Harmony Park provides relief from the dense urban environment of Surry Hills and is an informal space for the social interaction of local residents and workers. Despite the seemingly simple design, the project integrates a number of complex demands such as wide easements, site contamination, existing mature tree cover, and archaeological relics. Additionally, sustainable water management is achieved with a large, below-ground water storage tank, that collects water from the roof of the adjoining substation building and site run-off for use in park irrigation.
