Brickpit Park is the first neighborhood park in the new Olympic Park town center. Occupying a thin strip of land between a new multistory, multi-building commercial and residential development and the southern edge of the iconic Brickpit, the park will provide much-needed public recreational open space for the future workers and residents of the town center.
The design capitalizes on the park’s unique location to increase public interaction with the highly ecologically sensitive and geologically unstable Brickpit. The park is organised by a series of new viewing opportunities that provide visitors with both panoramic and intimate views of the spectacular landscape of the Brickpit. Extensive endemic plantings of grassland, shrubland and woodland areas increase the ecological value of the Brickpit edge, which had previously been highly modified by industrial activity.
