For cyclists commuting to and from Sydney’s city center, the separated cycleways on both Bourke Street and Bourke Road are fragmented by many urban conditions. This created issues for the safety and coherence of cyclists. Spackman Mossop Michaels assessed potential route options, followed by the development of design treatments for street furniture, verge planting, and material palettes to be adopted along the length of the route. The study was used to facilitate a community consultation that was warmly received by the local stakeholders.
